In a previous post we made note of one special part of the 2010 USA Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Championships that we wanted to bring to your attention and that is the Cross Culture: Bike + Art Love (Press Release).
We hope you can join us on Friday, December 10, 2010 for the Bike + Art Walk in Downtown and the Old Mill District of Bend Oregon.
What's all the talk?
Cross Culture: Bike + Art Love encompasses a multi-event arts celebration scheduled during Cyclo-cross nationals. There are a number of ways to join the Bend community
in expressing our love of the bicycle. A Friday night community art walk, ARTCRANK and storytelling events are just a few of the offerings lined up to complete your Cyclo-cross Nationals agenda of fun.
Arts events will kick-off on Thursday, December 9th at Portello Wine Bar in NorthWest Crossing with the Spoke-N-Word storytelling event at 8:30pm.
Bike enthusiasts, builders and artists will partner with local businesses in planning an all-out evening of creative hurrah on Friday, December 10th. The community art walk (5-9PM) will feature ARTCRANK a nationally recognized but locally produced poster art exhibit and party for bike people.
Here's the line up of participatants businesses in the Bike + Art Walk with High Desert Gallery's artist and wine selection highlighted.
High Desert Gallery: Jacob Norris, a Central Oregon emerging artist and bike enthusiast will entertain us with a painting demonstration. We'll have refreshments, wine and some holiday treats. Come join in on the fun downtown and meet and watch Jacob create his ever popular original paintings. You might even find his bike parked inside the gallery! High Desert Gallery is located across from Thump Coffee at the base of the Oxford Hotel at 10 NW Minnesota Avenue in downtown Bend Oregon. Call 541-388-8964 for directions or to inquire.
We'll pour a special Merlot and Chardonnay from Cycles Gladiator.
Cycles Gladiator Chardonnay - This pale-straw wine is bright and rich, featuring aromas of green apple, peach, melon and a touch of buttered toast.
Wine Enthusiast - April 2010 - 85 points
"A very rich wine, courtesy of some Viognier and Pinot Gris, not to mention new oak. Offers flattering flavors of pineapples, golden mangoes, vanilla cream, buttered toast and honeysuckle flowers."
Cycles Gladiator Merlot - This deep ruby Merlot greets the nose with an inviting mix of ripe fruit and earthy aromas.
Wine Enthusiast - April 2010 - 85 points
"Doesn't have quite the concentration of many more expensive Merlots, but fills a nice niche in an affordable red wine that's full-bodied, dry and elegant. Offers pleasant flavors of cherries, red currants, cola and oak"
